Pakistan

This article is about the country
Pakistan[b] (Urdu: پاکِستان), officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Urdu: اِسلامی
جمہوریہ پاکِستان), is a country in South Asia. It is the world’s sixth-most populous country with a population exceeding 212,742,631 people.[19] In area, it is the 33rd-largest country, spanning 881,913 square kilometres (340,509 square miles). Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre (650-mile) coastline along the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest, and China in the far northeast. It is separated narrowly from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor in the northwest, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.
A regional[33][34][35] and middle power,[36][37][38] Pakistan has the sixth-largest standing armed forces in the world and is also a nuclear power as well as a declared nuclear-weapons state, the second in South Asia and the only nation in the Muslim world to have that status. Pakistan has a semi-industrialised economy with a well-integrated agriculture sector and a growing services sector.[39][40] It is ranked among the emerging and growth-leading economies of the world,[41][42] and is backed by one of the world's largest and fastest-growing middle class.[43][44] Pakistan's political history since independence has been characterized by periods of military rule, political instability and conflicts with India. The country continues to face challenging problems, including overpopulation, terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, and corruption.[45][46][47][48] Pakistan is a member of the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the OIC, the Commonwealth of Nations, the SAARC and the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition.
Area
WaterAid
It has the world’s sixth biggest population and is
rapidly urbanising, which makes reaching everyone with basic services
extremely challenging.
Pakistan is one of the top five countries worldwide in improving access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. But despite this impressive progress, 22 million people still have no choice but to drink dirty water, and more than two in five people don’t have a decent toilet.
Tough landscapes, from arid deserts to remote mountain ranges, combined with unsettled politics make reaching the poorest people difficult. People are moving to towns faster than in any other South Asian country, straining already limited services. Add in natural disasters like floods, and the obstacles are substantial.
But we are tackling these challenges, and making water, toilets and hygiene a normal part of daily life. We are supporting local communities with the tools they need to claim their rights to basic services. We are helping the Government, our local partners, and service providers build facilities that will withstand disasters, so improvements will last whatever the future holds.
We are showing communities the important links between health and good hygiene practices such as handwashing, and encouraging them to build and use proper toilets. And we are working with schools and the media to spread these messages as widely as possible.
Together we can challenge conventional thinking, inspire action and build the momentum needed to change lives for good.

Naya Pakistan Calling
Overseas Pakistanis started migrating to various
countries in 1960s’ and 70’s for better economic opportunities and some
of them have excelled in their fields and have attained prominence as
professionals in different walks of life.
These Overseas Pakistanis have always shown keen
interest to contribute for the betterment of the country. Prime Minister
Imran Khan in his first address to the nation has invited notable
Overseas Pakistani professionals to contribute in the making of NAYA
PAKISTAN. As a first step, Overseas Pakistanis who are par excellence
and can be part of the Public Sector Institutions/Advisory Bodies, etc.
at Federal and Provincial level shall be invited to join and contribute
to the making of NAYA PAKISTAN.
Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource
Development would like to initiate the process by first of all
identifying these notable Overseas Pakistanis through our
Ambassadors/Missions abroad and getting their CVs online through OPF’s
web portal opf.org.pk. After having identified such a resource which can
contribute to the making of NAYA PAKISTAN, they shall then be involved
in strategic decision making by placing them as members of such Boards,
Authorities, Commissions, etc. Prominent professionals from Pakistani
diaspora are encouraged to join in the making of NAYA PAKISTAN.
