Natural treatments for long shiny hair
We invest lots of money in purchasing numerous hair care products like shampoos, conditioners and serums. We forget to use ingredients present in our home that can give us healthy hair naturally. Natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar, lemon; olive oil and egg can be superb treatment for long and shiny hair. One must also eat fruits and leafy vegetables for good health and to get long shiny and silky hair.
Egg and Olive Oil
Leave this white portion of egg and collect its yellow part. In egg’s yellow part add 1 tbsp of olive oil and then blend the mixture nicely. On your scalp and hairs, apply this mixture. Cover your hair with a shower cap and let this mixture stay on your head for 20 minutes. With normal water wash your hair this natural treatment is best for damaged and long hair.
Rinse with cold water
Yes, it can be painful in winter, but this is a tried-and-true way to get smooth hair. The cold doesn’t just make you want to shrink up — it does the same thing to your hair. Warmth makes the hair cuticle (the outer layer of each individual hair) open, while cold makes it close up. Rinsing with cold water encourages your individual strands to stay flat.
Blot, don’t rub
When you step out of the shower, it’s tempting to wrap your hair in a towel and give your head a good rub to remove excess water. Don’t do it! Rubbing roughs up your hair and can cause breakage, and it also encourages frizz. Instead, use your towel to blot away on top of your head. Give the longer sections of your hair a gentle squeeze with the towel to get rid of extra H2O.
Comb with care
Taking a brush straight to wet hair is a recipe for frizz and breakage. For smooth strands, use a wide-toothed comb on damp hair. Working in sections, start detangling at the ends and work vertically. Bothered by knots and/or a sensitive scalp? Spritz your hair with a product like It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product ($18, ulta.com) before you head into the fray.
Hot Oil Treatment
You’ve probably seen (and maybe even tried) those little tubes of hot oil treatments sold at the drug store, and when you consider their size, these are very expensive! You can do the same thing at home at a fraction of the cost. Some of the best oils to use on your hair are olive oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, or castor oil. All of these will help restore moisture to dry or damaged hair, making it shiny and lustrous again.

It’s nearly impossible to not stare when you spot someone with stereotypical shampoo-commercial hair in real life. You know the kind: longer than you’ve ever been able to grow yours, shiny as silk, and just begging to be flipped dramatically in slow motion. So why are some of us plagued by split ends, dull strands, and that seemingly unending awkward stage in between short and sweet and long and luxurious? We asked eight women with beautiful, healthy-looking, super-long hair for their advice on how to make your hair grow faster. They also shared what they do—and don’t do—to keep their manes in such enviable condition. You may be surprised to learn that the secrets to their healthy strands don't always include expensive shampoos and conditioners; most of them actually rely on drugstore hair products. Many also don't bother with regular trips to the salon—so much for the oft-repeated theory that regular haircuts are the key to growing out your hair.
Mayo
Ok, it tastes great on sandwiches, but did you know that mayo is loaded with amino acids, antioxidants, and protein that will turn that frumpy hair into super shiny hair? It’s true! Be sure you use the full-fat mayo for best results. Depending on the length of your hair, you will need between half and one cup of mayonnaise.Apply it to your just washed, damp hair, and cover with a shower cap. Allow the mayo to do its magic for 20 to 30 minutes. Shampoo your hair as you normally would. Do this once a week for best results.
